Driving is one of the few necessities of modern life. This is because almost all of our civilizations are built around the ability to move freely to anywhere we want with the use of a vehicle. Unfortunately, with the growing concern for the environment and the increasing unemployment rate, an ecological and economical alternative to owning and maintaining a vehicle is necessary in order to remain a functioning member of society.

For many people, simply giving up their vehicle and enrolling in a car share co-op or company is the easiest way to go about reducing the costs of driving. In many cases, this is one of the best ways as it allows the member the freedom to drive when they need to and can cut the costs of operating a vehicle by around twenty percent. However, in order to become a member of a car share program, it will be necessary to pass a driving background check, which some may not be able to do.

Thankfully, there are other options available. In many cases, car share members will find other ways to reduce the costs of their vehicle usage by taking on passengers to share expenses with. If nobody in your area of Houston is doing this, you can simply find a ride share. Ride shares are when two private parties enter into an agreement where the passenger, you, will pay a certain amount (generally percentage) of the fuel and maintenance (if regularly used) of the vehicle and the driver will take you where you need to go on a schedule.
